Problem

Practical checks for keyboard not working. Follow the safe steps below and contact your support team if the issue continues.

These are general troubleshooting checks, not a confirmed diagnosis. Follow your organization's procedures and stop if a step could risk data, safety, or managed equipment.

Symptoms to check

  • The expected action does not complete, or an error appears.
  • The problem may affect one item or several devices, users, or files.

Possible causes

  • A power, cable, accessory, component, driver, or device setting may be involved.
  • A hardware fault is possible, but confirm the connection and configuration first.

Resolution

  1. Note indicator lights, messages, sounds, and when the issue started; check whether the device or another similar device is affected.
  2. Check the external power source and cable connections. Reconnect one cable at a time and test a known-good compatible cable or port if available.
  3. For Keyboard Not Working, check the manufacturer's basic setup guidance and the device status shown by the operating system. Do not open power supplies or equipment while connected to power.
  4. Restart the affected device once if it is safe to do so, then test with one known-good accessory or application to isolate the cause.
  5. If the problem continues, stop using a device that is unusually hot, smells burnt, sparks, or makes grinding noises. Back up important data where possible and contact the device owner or support team.

Prevention and preparation

  • Use compatible, undamaged accessories and keep vents clear.
  • Back up important files regularly and report unusual heat, noise, or power behavior promptly.
